About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team at ReDiscover. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Services: Provide support to clients using your personal experiences and recovery journey to build rapport and engage in services.
  • Linkage and Referral: Connect clients with support groups and other community resources, such as health and wellness activities, employment opportunities, and other activities that support recovery goals.
  • Treatment Planning: Work with an interdisciplinary team to develop and modify individual client treatment plans.
  • Group Facilitation: Participate in and/or facilitate mutual support and education groups within specific ReDiscover programs.
  • Transportation: Assist with client transportation, which may include transporting individuals in your personal vehicle.
  • Confidentiality: Safeguard Protected Health Information (written and electronically) and maintain confidentiality, including providing written documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Certification: Candidates who are already certified as a MO Peer Support Specialist are preferred.
  • Availability: Be available to work Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm with twice a week flexing hours to work until 7:00pm.
  • Driver's License: A valid automobile driver's license, appropriate automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work.
  • Personal Experience: Must have life experiences with a substance use disorder and/or mental illness and have received appropriate services.
  • Certification Training: Must have successfully completed the Peer Specialist training through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) and successfully passed the certification exam. Individuals who are non-certified at time of hire may be given a specific timeframe to attend training and obtain initial certification.
  • External Partnerships: Must also satisfy requirements for external community partners.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus, strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, and GSuite.
