Job Summary

University Health is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health department, you will play a critical role in providing advanced level mental health treatment to individuals in both individual and group settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial interviews with individuals presenting for services, determining their need for routine, urgent, or crisis services
  • Provide crisis intervention and psychoeducation on topics such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, coordinating with other agencies and healthcare providers as needed
  • Provide individual and group therapy, utilizing sound theoretical principles and knowledge of the special issues and needs of the population served
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support

Requirements

  • Master's degree or above in counseling, psychology, social work, family therapy, or closely related field
  • Preferred Missouri licensure as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of psychiatric diagnosis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Organizational and leadership skills, with ability to demonstrate good independent judgment and adapt to new duties and changing environments
