Job Overview

The Aquatic Facility Maintenance Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the Waterpark Maintenance Manager with the daily functions of the waterpark, ensuring all associated equipment is well-maintained. This position also includes basic supervisory responsibilities for the Water Technician team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adheres to the park's uniform and appearance standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Oversees the water technician staff.
  • Executes and directs maintenance activities as instructed by the maintenance manager.
  • Conducts water testing and complies with testing protocols.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of pool chemistry.
  • Administers water treatment and applies necessary chemicals (with appropriate licensing).
  • Utilizes fundamental skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and basic electrical work.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standard safety practices in a workshop environment.
  • Safely operates all hand and power tools.
  • Applies troubleshooting techniques effectively.
  • Handles HVAC computer operations.
  • Manages Air Handler operations.
  • Gains knowledge of all park equipment operations and their locations.
  • Works in aquatic and submerged conditions.
  • Delivers quality workmanship and takes pride in the facility's upkeep.
  • Assists guests courteously.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, which may relate directly or indirectly to the primary role.
Supervisory Duties

This role directly supervises approximately two employees within the Waterpark Maintenance department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; recognizing and addressing employee concerns; and resolving issues.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Education and Experience

An Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency

Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence. Capable of effectively communicating before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Familiarity with basic algebra and geometry concepts.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of interpreting a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.

Computer Proficiency

Familiarity with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, along with the ability to research and order parts online.

Certifications

Candidates must hold a CPO Certified Pool Operator certification and possess a trade school certificate in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Mechanical fields.

Additional Skills

Strong organizational skills are essential. Candidates should be adept at troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving equipment-related issues.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands for this role include regular standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds or more. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Employees may encounter wet or humid conditions regularly, work near moving mechanical parts, and be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment typically ranges from moderate to loud.
