About the Position

The Head of Residential Lending position is a critical role within Savings Bank of Danbury, responsible for overseeing the origination process through the post-closing process. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in mortgage management and a proven track record of success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development and Sales
    • Develop and implement strategies to grow mortgage lending and achieve annual production goals.
    • Oversee the planning and development of consumer loan goals, ensuring alignment with bank objectives.
    • Meet portfolio and loan sale mix goals, driving business growth and profitability.
    • Develop overall strategies to achieve annual department goals beyond production targets.
  • Audit and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with annual FTHB seminar and mortgage day requirements across all Savings Bank of Danbury markets.
    • Audit and review results, achieving less than two report findings per audit.
    • Prepare and respond to audits within established timelines, maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency.
  • Policy and Procedure Management
    • Ensure that loans are underwritten and approved in accordance with Savings Bank of Danbury policies and procedures.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing legislation, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures on loans sold to investors, ensuring alignment with investor guidelines.
    • Comply with CRA guidelines, ethics policy, and non-discrimination policy, upholding the bank's commitment to fairness and equality.
  • Requirements and Qualifications
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams.
    • Proven high-level management skills, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage management or a similar role.
    • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending practices, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Familiarity with financial services software and systems.
    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Knowledge of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance is preferred.
