Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Production Operations Lead, you will oversee the operations at Nature's Bakery during the third shift. This pivotal leadership position is essential for executing company strategies and upholding the core values that define our organization. You will report directly to the Plant Director and collaborate closely with teams across Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Human Resources, Finance, and IT. All operational staff on your shift will report indirectly to you, making you the primary contact for all shift-related matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operational Management: Supervise the activities of multiple production lines or technologies within a value stream during the third shift, ensuring efficient conversion of raw materials into high-quality products while adhering to safety and sanitation standards.

2. System Advocacy: Champion the implementation of the Nature's Bakery Operating System. Engage in daily management processes and support the flow of information within the value stream.

3. Change Implementation: Propose and execute changes in methods, equipment, and organizational structure to meet operational objectives. Collaborate with other departments to achieve these goals.

4. Employee Relations: Manage associate relations proactively, guiding the hiring, training, and development of operations staff while fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.

5. Quality Assurance: Ensure the continuous production of safe and defect-free products, taking ownership of training and quality improvement initiatives within your area.

6. Performance Measurement: Establish performance standards and goals in alignment with site objectives, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

7. Troubleshooting: Direct technical resources for troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues to maintain optimal performance levels.

8. Communication: Foster open communication channels and provide regular updates on business performance to all stakeholders.

9. Technological Advancements: Advise on opportunities for technological improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

10. Strategic Participation: Collaborate with the Plant Director and other operational leaders to implement both short- and long-term improvement strategies.

11. Associate Development: Evaluate performance and create development plans for associates to help them reach their career goals.

12. Personal Growth: Stay informed about managerial and technical advancements and integrate these into your development plans.

13. Site Representation: Act on behalf of the Plant Director in their absence, ensuring the protection of company assets and effective crisis management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred background in food manufacturing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and achieve results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, a scientific discipline, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a consumer products environment, with a focus on operational roles.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Preferred certifications in FSMA/PCQI.
  • Familiarity with regulatory audits (FDA/USDA) and third-party audits.
  • Proficient in ERP systems.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
