Job Overview

Location: Downtown Omaha
Shift: Tuesday to Saturday, 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Compensation: $18.50 per hour plus an additional $0.50 per hour for shift differential.

The Parking Compliance Officer is responsible for upholding the parking regulations established by the City of Omaha, primarily in the downtown area. This role involves assisting the public with parking-related inquiries, facilitating entry and exit transactions, providing directions, and offering vehicle jump-starts as needed. The officer will also ensure that parking equipment is maintained in proper working order. Collaboration with team members and the On-Street Manager is essential to uphold safety standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct foot patrols along a designated route (walking 3-5 miles daily) to ensure adherence to parking laws and regulations.
  • Act as a resource for the public by providing information about parking rules, street locations, and nearby landmarks.
  • Utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to monitor parking time limits.
  • Address inquiries regarding parking violations and complaints.
  • Identify vehicles in violation of parking regulations, coordinating with dispatch as necessary to confirm vehicle details or determine if immobilization or towing is required.
  • Issue warnings and citations for improperly parked vehicles.
  • Report hazardous conditions such as missing traffic signs, construction zones, and faded street markings.
  • Possess the ability to process, immobilize, and tow vehicles when necessary.
  • Employ a smartphone to issue citations and access relevant information.
  • Be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, heat, and high winds, for extended periods.
