Safety Compliance Specialist

The main objective of this role is to ensure that all safety regulations and policies are properly documented, enforced, and resolved within the Safety Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to drivers, addressing their inquiries and concerns regarding compliance with hours of service regulations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing feedback and resolution to any issues that may arise.
- Research and verify drivers' requests for log corrections through the computer system, ensuring accuracy and updating the system accordingly.
- Conduct thorough audits using computer system screens, identifying violations of hours of service regulations and determining disciplinary action.
- Monitor drivers with in-cab device communication issues, ensuring timely resolution or repair.
- Review paper logs used during malfunctions for accuracy and violations of hours of service regulations, documenting any issues discovered.
- Perform rate and review functions of the Bendix Safety Direct video critical event management system.
- Document various driver incidents and complaint reports, as well as any necessary coaching and counseling.
- Assist in determining dispositions for road tests and students deemed not to be progressing in the training program.
- Perform accident reviews and provide a disposition or gather information on a driver file, passing it along to a Corporate Safety Manager.
- Manage the driver's annual reviews.
- Review all MVRs run on current drivers to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Manage student and trainer complaints, as well as coordinate trainer suspensions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel to assist with additional tasks.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and company requirements, policies, and procedures for trainers and students.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
- Skill in operating a PC and various office equipment.
- Knowledge of AS-400, Microsoft Office, and other office database systems.
- Ability to relate well with drivers.
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or general education degree (GED).
- One to two years' experience in a position within the Werner Driver Training program.
- Safety Specialist experience preferred.
- Maintain any credentials required to perform safety functions.
