Job Summary

The Corporate Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with all Safety Department rules and policies. This position is responsible for documenting, enforcing, and resolving safety-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to drivers, addressing their questions and concerns regarding hours of service compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, providing feedback and resolution to any issues that arise.
  • Research and verify driver requests for log corrections, ensuring accuracy and validity.
  • Conduct audits and analyze reports to identify violations of hours of service regulations, determining disciplinary action as needed.
  • Monitor and resolve in-cab device communication issues, ensuring timely resolution or repair.
  • Review paper logs for accuracy and identify any violations of hours of service regulations.
  • Perform rate and review functions of the Bendix Safety Direct video critical event management system.
  • Document driver incidents, complaint reports, and coaching/counseling sessions.
  • Assist in determining dispositions for road tests and students who are not progressing in the training program.
  • Perform accident reviews and provide dispositions or gather information for Corporate Safety Managers.
  • Manage driver annual reviews and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Review MVRs to ensure DOT legality.
  • Manage student and trainer complaints, as well as coordinate trainer suspensions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and company policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a PC and various office equipment.
  • Knowledge of AS-400, Microsoft Office, and other office database systems.
  • Ability to relate well with drivers.
Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One to two years' experience in a position within the Werner Driver Training program.
  • Safety Specialist experience preferred.
  • Maintain any required safety credentials.
