Position Overview

Apex Dermatology & Skin Surgery Center is a dynamic and expanding skincare facility dedicated to providing outstanding patient care.

We are seeking skilled individuals for the position of Clinical Support Specialist.

The Clinical Support Specialist will undertake both administrative and clinical responsibilities, including managing patient records, preparing examination rooms, assisting healthcare providers during patient assessments, and performing front-desk duties.

Ideal candidates will possess strong problem-solving abilities, work effectively in a team environment, and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time, hourly position. Legal authorization to work in the US is required.

Compensation:
$16 - $19 per hour
Key Responsibilities:

- Guide patients to examination rooms based on appointment schedules.
- Collect brief medical histories and vital signs as necessary based on the patient's primary concern.
- Update or obtain patient medication lists.
- Prepare examination rooms according to scheduled procedures or anticipate the needs of the healthcare provider.

- Document patient care accurately during visits to comply with legal, state health, and Medicare regulations.

- Assist healthcare providers with biopsies and surgical procedures.
- Educate patients post-assessment regarding their treatment plans.

- Ensure patients comprehend their treatment plans, medication usage, and compliance responsibilities before leaving the facility.

- Clean and organize examination rooms after patient visits.
- Maintain and update patient records and charts.
- Provide appropriate emergency care when necessary, demonstrating sound judgment and decision-making skills while adhering to practice policies (OSHA/HIPAA).
- Monitor and complete laboratory documentation, biopsy and culture logs, telephone encounters, and team task assignments within the EMR.
- Manage clinical phone inquiries in collaboration with healthcare providers.
- Follow up on biopsy results for patients.
- Assist with sterilization procedures and quality control measures.

- Perform clerical tasks as directed, including prior authorizations, scheduling new and follow-up appointments, answering phones, and scanning documents into the EMR.

- Travel to additional office locations may be required.Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic computer software and medical terminology
Preferred qualifications include a BA/BS in a relevant field, two years of experience as a clinical support specialist, and one year of experience in dermatology.

Current and valid certification as a Medical Assistant or progress towards certification is required.About Us
