The IT Support Specialist is an entry-level position within the University Hospitals IT department. This role is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to enhance operational efficiencies, patient safety, and departmental workflow needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Workflow Design: Collaborate with clinical and business partners to design system workflows that improve efficiencies and incorporate quality initiatives.
  • Technical Support: Provide support and input as needed, escalating issues appropriately to ensure timely resolution.
  • Change Management: Participate in change management activities to support successful system deployments and enhancements.
  • Documentation Standards: Assist team members in maintaining good documentation standards, including the creation of functional design specifications.
  • Policies and Procedures: Assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures in collaboration with clinicians, business personnel, and IT manager.
  • System Documentation: Assist with the development and maintenance of system documentation.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot issues with vendor assistance to resolution.
  • System Integrations: Support and troubleshoot Hospital Information Systems inbound/outbound interfaces as appropriate.
  • Reporting and Problem Tickets: Create reports as needed and work problem tickets using ServiceNow or designated process.
  • Change Control: Utilize and maintain appropriate change control procedures and standards.
  • Flowcharts and Diagrams: Prepare detailed flowcharts/diagrams to assist with design decisions and problem analysis.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients.
