MWH Constructors, a renowned leader in construction management and heavy civil engineering for water and wastewater facilities, is currently in search of a Construction Project Engineer for a significant heavy civil engineering endeavor in Southern New England. This project involves extensive earthwork and the establishment of cast-in-place concrete structures. The Construction Project Engineer acts as the representative of the owner for this public works initiative, ensuring comprehensive oversight of contractor activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of construction inspectors and other personnel.
  • Facilitate daily inspections of the work, including thorough documentation and reporting.
  • Organize meetings, including weekly progress discussions and special sessions. Prepare agendas and minutes.
  • Implement the Quality Assurance Plan effectively.
  • Review the baseline schedule and monthly progress reports.
  • Assess and verify monthly payment applications from contractors.
  • Manage contractor submittals.
  • Handle requests for information proficiently.
  • Evaluate cost proposals submitted by contractors.
  • Oversee the change management process.
  • Maintain the project risk register diligently.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Specialist to execute the safety plan of the construction management team.
  • With the Safety Specialist, monitor and document the contractor's compliance with the project health & safety plan.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience as a resident engineer or project manager in heavy civil construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction involving cast-in-place concrete structures.
  • Strong emphasis on construction safety practices.
  • Excellent management, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing change orders and defending claims.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, BlueBeam, or Adobe Acrobat software.
  • Familiarity with project management information systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to access awkward and confined spaces regularly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current professional engineer registration.
  • PMP or CCM certification.
  • Experience in water/wastewater construction projects.
  • Background in underground construction.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 Professional.
