Compensation:
Pay ranges from $45.00 to $60.00 per hour.

Position Overview:
The Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment within Fleet Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and identify mechanical issues in fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct repairs on brakes, engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and other related components using various tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform cutting and welding tasks for body repairs and touch-ups.
  • Execute routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and report any operational issues to the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Engage in cleaning and maintaining work areas, machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal personnel to understand maintenance needs and communicate with suppliers for repair instructions.
  • Participate in after-hours emergency calls and assist with snow and ice control as needed.
  • May assist in training new or less experienced staff.

Work Environment:
This position is primarily based in a shop or field environment, with exposure to outdoor conditions and varying weather.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance, with knowledge of automotive and truck mechanics.
  • Entry-level experience preferred in vehicle maintenance or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the repair and maintenance of various vehicle types, including trucks and trailers.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately record data from various equipment.
  • Proficient in operating motorized vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to new responsibilities.
  • Proficient in using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Certifications:

  • Valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a safe driving record.
  • Completion of required safety and operational training.
  • Obtain ASE certification in Master Automotive Technician or Master Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Technician within three years of hire.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves standing for 75% of the time and walking for 25%. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds.
