Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in vehicle systems, including electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking, and drive train systems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
- Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard.
- Arrange for and obtain approval for major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all relevant safety guidelines and regulations.
- Identify and report any additional maintenance or repairs required, including those that need to be performed by technicians with higher qualification levels.
- Record time spent, parts used, and repairs conducted on the appropriate forms.
- Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
- Advise the Lead Technician of any unsafe maintenance conditions or practices, or vehicle abuse.
- Minimum of two to four years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic or fleet mechanic.
- Diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential.
- Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
- Previous fleet experience and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems are necessary.
- Possession of the recommended minimum hand tools for a diesel technician.
- Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred).
- ASE certification is desirable but not required.
- Competitive hourly rate of $39.00.
