About the Role

National Express LLC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II - Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle issues, ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in vehicle systems, including electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking, and drive train systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs are completed to a high standard.
  • Arrange for and obtain approval for major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all relevant safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Identify and report any additional maintenance or repairs required, including those that need to be performed by technicians with higher qualification levels.
  • Record time spent, parts used, and repairs conducted on the appropriate forms.
  • Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  • Advise the Lead Technician of any unsafe maintenance conditions or practices, or vehicle abuse.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two to four years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic or fleet mechanic.
  • Diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential.
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
  • Previous fleet experience and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems are necessary.
  • Possession of the recommended minimum hand tools for a diesel technician.
  • Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred).
  • ASE certification is desirable but not required.
