KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Vice President of Finance is accountable for overseeing all fiscal operations of Gulf Coast JFCS and its affiliated entities. This role involves close collaboration with the President/CEO and requires partnership with the senior leadership team, Board of Directors, and the Finance Committee to assess financial performance and operational strategies across the organization. The Vice President will ensure compliance with all reporting and fiscal regulations set forth by federal and state agencies regarding grants and contracts. Adaptability to a dynamic, high-growth environment is essential, as the role encompasses finance, payroll, billing, purchasing, and grant and contract accounting. The Vice President will set priorities and direction for all financial operations in collaboration with the CEO and Finance Committee.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Manage cash flow strategies to guarantee the availability of funds for organizational commitments.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, segregation of duties, and financial protocols.
  • Direct financing strategies and maintain banking relationships.
  • Facilitate the annual budgeting process.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state accounting regulations for non-profit organizations, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, GAAP, and other financial standards.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and analyses to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
  • Oversee the annual audit process, ensuring timely completion of schedules and reports, including IRS 990 tax returns and other required filings.
  • Manage client billing processes to maximize revenue collection.
  • Represent the organization to funding partners, investment firms, and auditors, and prepare quarterly financial performance reports for the Gulf Coast CARES endowment agency.
  • Guarantee timely and accurate financial reporting for federal and state agencies and other funders as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory reporting for all financial programs.
  • Conduct annual reviews and procure necessary insurance for the organization.
  • Participate in policy development as a senior leadership team member.
Strategic Financial Oversight:
  • Oversee cash, investment, and asset management, developing systems for effective monitoring.
  • Project annual performance of programs and the organization using predictive models and financial analysis.
  • Analyze staffing patterns and expenditures, utilizing reporting tools to recommend operational efficiencies.
  • Review and propose policies governing all revenue and expense operations.
  • Examine the fundraising process to ensure proper receipt, posting, and reconciliation of donor contributions.
  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure the integrity of all accounting systems while mentoring finance and accounting staff.
  • Engage with agency leaders to develop monitoring tools and coordinate internal audits of client and billing files.
  • Support new program development through budget drafting.
  • Provide guidance and training to administrative and program staff on financial statements, contract compliance, and billing requirements.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
  • Annual salary range of $175,000 - $200,000

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Vice President of Finance should possess a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant financial and leadership experience, ideally starting in audit, followed by roles in budget development, financial evaluation, and stakeholder reporting. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a CFO or equivalent financial leadership role within a large, complex non-profit human services organization with revenues exceeding $20 million is required.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is essential, along with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with direct experience in the non-profit sector.
    • Preference for candidates with a CPA license and an MBA degree.
  • Extensive experience or knowledge of non-profit accounting, including contract and grant accounting.
  • In-depth understanding of OMB Circular A133 audits, Sarbanes-Oxley, and GAAP reporting.
  • Proficiency in finance and accounting software applications and collaboration with IT staff to maintain these systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, team management, and interpersonal skills.
