Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place patients in exam rooms and obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Clean and prepare exam and procedure rooms, setting up necessary equipment and instruments.
  • Sterilize all instruments and stock exam rooms.
  • Obtain consent forms from patients, when necessary.
  • Prepare patients for minor surgeries or other procedures.
  • Assist physicians with surgical and other procedures, as needed.
  • Schedule lab appointments or tests as ordered by physicians.
  • Accurately manage lab specimens.
  • Order necessary medical supplies.
  • Educate patients and families regarding specific diseases, proper follow-up, and preventative care.
  • Act as a liaison between the physician and the patient.
  • Administer medication as prescribed by the physician.
  • Contact patients with test results, as directed by the physician.
  • Take pharmacy calls and respond appropriately with refills per physician orders.
  • Maintain other patient records and legal forms, as required by law.
  • Assist with chart preparation.
  • File tests, lab results, charts, etc.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and take messages to pass to physician, manager, etc., as is appropriate.
  • Follow all clinic policies, procedures, and work rules, as established from time to time by clinic management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experienced Medical Assistant with 1+ years of experience.
  • Background in OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, and/or Family Medicine.
  • Experience working on NextGen EMR.
  • Strong injections skills.
  • Technology savvy.
  • Experience working in a busy multi-physician practice.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a busy multi-provider office.
  • Phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.
  • Current CMA/RMA/CNA Certification is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
