Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at Upstate University Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing recreation programs that promote patient engagement and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead structured recreation programs and group therapies to enhance patient participation and progress.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate recreation therapy into treatment plans.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor patient participation and progress, and report findings to the treatment team.
  • Organize and coordinate monthly activity plans to ensure a diverse range of recreation programs.
  • Participate in treatment planning meetings to ensure recreation therapy goals are aligned with overall treatment objectives.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare staff on recreation therapy techniques and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field.
  • One year of professional recreation experience in a therapeutic, instructional, or rehabilitation setting.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification issued by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a similar role or in a hospital setting is highly desirable.

Work Schedule:

Day shift with weekend availability as needed.
