Overview:
The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is responsible for the planning, execution, and assessment of recreational services tailored to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments to address the unique needs and interests of patients.
2. Provides direct patient care, including evaluations, care planning, and adjustments to treatment interventions based on patient assessments.
3. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to prepare and facilitate psychoeducational and recreational activity groups.
4. Engages in the development of treatment strategies through ongoing evaluations and group interactions.
5. Maintains accurate documentation of patient-related information in medical records to support comprehensive therapy planning.
6. Actively participates in clinical meetings to foster open communication and uphold quality patient care standards.
7. Implements effective communication strategies when interacting with patients, colleagues, and supervisors.
Patient Care and Assessment:
1. Provides necessary direct patient care as determined by clinical leadership based on program demands.
2. Interprets and executes physician directives while delivering care as prescribed.
3. Identifies symptoms and prioritizes care consistent with patient conditions.
4. Addresses the physical, cultural, and psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
5. Integrates evidence-based practices and adheres to professional standards.
6. Champions patient safety by monitoring the clinical environment and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
7. Delivers clinical services, including individual and group treatments, co-treatments with other disciplines, and community outings.
Qualifications:
Education: Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy, or a related field.
Licensure/Certifications:
Required:
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
Preferred:
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Registered Dance Movement Therapist (R-DMT), or Art Therapist (ATR).
Compensation:
$32.90 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will receive compensation within the stated hourly rates.
