Position Overview:

This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the billing staff and processes within the Emergency Department Billing sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all personnel in the Emergency Department Billing team.
  • Oversee the training of new hires and those transitioning to different roles.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to address and resolve internal issues.
  • Design and implement new processes while reinforcing existing ones.
  • Communicate updates and information regarding clients to managers and staff.
  • Monitor staff workload and productivity to ensure efficiency.
  • Conduct reviews of employee audits, both current and new.
  • Supervise daily tasks related to billing follow-up.
  • Ensure that staff are well-trained and understand job expectations, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment through:
    • Effective communication about departmental and organizational initiatives.
    • Adjusting procedures to enhance process efficiencies.
    • Resolving interpersonal issues among team members.
    • Encouraging constructive feedback within the team.
  • Manage the recruitment process, including identifying staffing needs, posting positions internally, and participating in the screening and interview process.
  • Adhere to all relevant state and federal laws regarding compliance, including HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct and compliance policies by departmental managers and employees.
  • Administer appropriate sanctions for any compliance violations.
  • Review and approve time and attendance records in line with company standards.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports, as well as monitor evaluations for other staff.
  • Uphold the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Proactively oversee company policies and address any violations.
  • Facilitate departmental meetings and present to senior management as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to operations and employment.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education:

A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software, particularly MS Excel and MS Word, is required.

Experience:

  1. Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  2. Demonstrated management skills for overseeing large, multi-task teams.
