Objective

Lead and supervise the Emergency Department Billing team and the associated processes within the billing department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all personnel within the Emergency Department Billing team
  • Oversee the training of new hires and those transitioning to different roles
  • Collaborate with department managers to address departmental challenges
  • Design and implement new procedures while enhancing existing ones
  • Relay new client information to department leaders and staff
  • Assess staff workload and productivity
  • Conduct reviews of current and new employee audits
  • Oversee daily tasks related to Emergency Department Billing follow-up
  • Ensure staff is well-trained and aware of job expectations, taking corrective action when necessary
  • Foster a collaborative team atmosphere through:
    • Effective communication regarding departmental and organizational initiatives
    • Adjusting processes to enhance efficiency
    • Resolving interpersonal conflicts among staff
    • Encouraging constructive feedback among team members
  • Manage the recruitment process by:
    • Identifying staffing needs
    • Posting job openings internally
    • Participating in the screening and interviewing process alongside team managers
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations concerning compliance programs, including HIPAA Privacy and Security
  • Ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct and organizational policies among departmental managers and employees
  • Administer appropriate sanctions for compliance violations
  • Review and approve time and attendance records in line with company standards
  • Provide ongoing feedback and conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports, as well as monitor and approve evaluations for other staff
  • Uphold the organization's mission, vision, and values
  • Proactively monitor company policies and address any violations appropriately
  • Facilitate departmental meetings and present to senior management as required
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding operations and employment

Education

A Bachelor's degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Computer Skills

Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software is essential, with proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word required.
