Job Overview

Position: Billing Operations Coordinator

Compensation and Employment Type:

Hourly Rate: $17/hr

Location: Bedford, MA

Role Purpose:
The Billing Operations Coordinator is responsible for executing essential clerical functions within the Billing Operations Department, ensuring the efficient processing of Emergency Department Physician medical claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate accounts categorized as self-pay and determine appropriate actions for collections.
  • Handle all incoming returned correspondence from patients.
  • Dispatch all paper claims generated by the team on a daily basis.
  • Attach primary Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to secondary claims.
  • Link medical records to claims as necessary.
  • Review incoming patient correspondence and update insurance information when required.
  • Sort and prepare mail for scanning into the document management system.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct and familiarize oneself with all compliance policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.

Experience:

  • Preferred one to two years of relevant billing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Capability to read and interpret various documents including safety rules and procedural manuals.
  • Skill in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close work.
  • Capacity to sit for extended periods, use hands, and occasionally walk or reach.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a climate-controlled office setting with a generally light to moderate noise level. This job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
