Job Title: Event Coordination Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking an Event Coordination Specialist to oversee the planning and execution of various educational programs and events. This role involves managing logistical details such as securing accommodations, arranging venues, and coordinating dining options, while also negotiating with service providers and handling participant registration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to meet organizational objectives
  • Negotiate and confirm hotel bookings and other venue requirements while adhering to budget constraints
  • Ensure timely delivery of services and products from vendors
  • Address participant dietary preferences and requirements with vendors
  • Communicate essential venue information to participants and guest speakers
  • Oversee the entire invitation and registration process for events
  • Maintain records of participant information and manage ticket sales
  • Monitor revenue generated from ticket sales for larger gatherings
  • Organize and maintain electronic documentation related to events
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree along with a minimum of one year of experience in project or event management. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Preference will be given to those with a background or interest in public policy, politics, or government. Familiarity with procurement and contracting systems is advantageous but not mandatory.

This position allows for a degree of remote work and may require occasional travel to support programs and events.

Physical Demands:

This role primarily involves sedentary work with significant computer usage, and a valid driver's license is necessary.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is competitive, with benefits provided by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
