Job Summary

The Banquet Captain - Event Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of events at Thompson Hospitality. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hire, train, and direct banquet staff to provide exceptional service to guests.
  • Conduct roll calls and monthly meetings to ensure staff are aware of event details and expectations.
  • Develop and implement action plans to achieve goals and improve performance.
  • Supervise the setup of function rooms, including placement of linens, silverware, china, and glassware.
  • Inspect function rooms and equipment prior to events to ensure cleanliness and proper inventory.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staffs to ensure timely execution of events.
  • Supervise clean-up of function rooms and proper breakdown and storage of equipment.
  • Enter billing information into the micro system to generate a final guest check.
  • Process payroll for each event, including calculating hours worked and gratuity distribution.
  • Check staff attendance and adjust server stations as necessary to provide quality service.
Requirements
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • At least two-year college degree required.
  • At least ten years of experience in the banquet/catering field preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in direct supervision required.
