SUMMARY:

The Safety Compliance Specialist is tasked with supporting the Safety/Environmental Supervisor in fostering and upholding a secure working atmosphere within the facility. This position entails performing safety evaluations, executing daily assessments, and ensuring adherence to safety standards and protocols. The Safety Compliance Specialist is vital in recognizing potential risks, suggesting remedial measures, and cultivating a safety-oriented culture among employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out routine safety evaluations and inspections of the facility, equipment, and operational practices to pinpoint potential risks.
  • Record outcomes from safety evaluations and inspections and communicate them to the Safety/Environmental Supervisor.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective measures to ensure timely resolution of identified risks.
  • Conduct daily assessments of the facility to verify compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Assist in delivering safety training sessions for employees, including orientation for new hires and ongoing safety education programs.
  • Disseminate safety policies, procedures, and updates to all employees.
  • Encourage safety awareness and participation among employees through consistent communication and safety initiatives.
  • Help investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses within the facility to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the Safety Environmental Supervisor in executing safety programs and initiatives.
  • Act as a resource for safety-related inquiries within the facility, offering guidance and support to employees and supervisors.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Safety Environmental Supervisor or management.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Ensure that safety policies and procedures are communicated effectively to all employees and are readily accessible.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety into daily operations and projects.
  • Provide guidance on safety-related matters to supervisors and managers throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong observational and analytical skills.
  • Capability to conduct training sessions and presentations.
  • Proficiency in utilizing safety management software and tools.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a safety and environmental role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience in conducting safety evaluations and inspections is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate to heavy lifting is required; frequently lifting 10-25 pounds and occasionally 20-50 pounds.
  • Indoor, non-climate-controlled facility.
  • Ability to perform field inspections and evaluations, which may involve climbing ladders, traversing uneven surfaces, and exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Good vision and hearing to identify safety hazards and conduct inspections.
