Process Safety Specialist

Targa Resources is a leading provider of midstream services, and we are seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Process Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, and the environment.
Job Summary:The Process Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and process safety hazards associated with the processing and handling of hydrocarbons. This includes facilitating, attending, and monitoring Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) on existing, new, and modified processes and defining effective risk management controls.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate and attend Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) on existing, new, and modified processes
- Define effective risk management controls
- Assist in the development, implementation, and sustainment of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program
- Monitor and report on Process Safety Information, Process Hazard Analysis, Operating Procedures, Operator Training, Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, Compliance Audits, and Risk Management Plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage key compliance activities for the 14 elements of PSM and RMP
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, or a related degree program
- In-depth knowledge of process safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA, API, etc.)
- Experience conducting process hazard analyses (PHA) and risk assessments, using techniques such as HAZOP, LOPA, and QRA
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and assess process safety risks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Familiarity with process safety-related software tools and technologies
- Strong understanding of gas processing processes, equipment, and operations
- Minimum 8+ years of process safety experience in the oil & gas or chemical industries
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
