Talent Acquisition Specialist

Salary Range: $57,700 - $72,100

At Midland States Bank, the base salary is one element of our Total Rewards program. The exact compensation is influenced by various factors such as education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This role also offers additional compensation through short-term incentives (e.g., bonuses and/or commissions) and may include long-term incentives (e.g., stock awards). Benefits for this position encompass comprehensive healthcare, well-being programs, paid family leave, and generous paid time off. Total Rewards further include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a 401K plan with company match, and the potential to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Overview

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is tasked with executing effective recruitment strategies to attract and select high-quality candidates for Midland States Bank. The primary responsibilities of the Recruiter include, but are not limited to, sourcing, interviewing, job advertisement placement, conducting pre-screening background checks, evaluating candidates, and extending job offers.

This individual will employ a variety of sourcing techniques, including cold-calling, networking, online postings, social media engagement, assessments, and more, ensuring that all candidates experience an exceptional process. The role involves consulting with both hiring managers and candidates regarding the overall selection and hiring process, maintaining a robust talent pipeline for designated positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, source, and screen candidates, resumes, and job applications.
  • Conduct interviews utilizing various reliable recruitment and selection methods to filter candidates professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of business line performance expectations and effectively apply this knowledge to implement sourcing strategies.
  • Proactively influence the sourcing and hiring of high-quality talent by integrating diversity and inclusion into the recruitment process.
  • Source and recruit diverse candidates through various networks and social media to connect with both passive and active job seekers.
  • Serve as a point of contact and foster influential relationships with candidates to enhance the recruitment pipeline and successful placements.
  • Identify recruitment trends and needs through internal and external analysis.
  • Research candidates and job positions.
  • Network through industry contacts, associations, trade groups, social media, cold calling, and referrals.
  • Collaborate with universities, organizations, or professional trade groups to ensure inclusive and diverse relationships.
  • Provide constructive feedback to candidates to aid in their professional development.
  • Ensure internal equity is considered when finalizing recommended compensation.
  • Assist hiring managers in utilizing assessment tools and behavioral interviews.
  • Regularly meet with hiring managers to facilitate intake meetings, calibration discussions, and ensure open communication regarding recruitment strategies and candidate pipelines.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for hiring managers and business unit leaders on talent acquisition topics, trends, and processes.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Hiring Managers and HR throughout the recruitment lifecycle.

  • The role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings.
  • Compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), is mandatory.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the recruitment field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with an applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • At least 2 years' experience in proactively sourcing and cold-calling both active and passive candidates.
  • Familiarity with various sourcing methodologies and social recruiting strategies, as well as networking through resume databases and professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action requirements in hiring practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, counseling, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with external recruiters is preferred.
