Job Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a versatile caregiver who operates under the supervision of the professional Charge Nurse. The CNA plays a crucial role in delivering safe, age-appropriate care to residents by executing fundamental care tasks (such as Activities of Daily Living, mobility assistance, monitoring vital signs, and performing approved technical procedures) while also undertaking additional responsibilities to ensure the provision of preferred care. The work schedule may vary based on the specific needs of the unit.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Excellence in Customer Service: Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and their families. - Uphold the rights and dignity of residents at all times. - Maintain confidentiality of patient information. - Engage in resident rounding as per established standards. - Respond promptly to telephone calls and call lights, notifying the appropriate personnel of any needs for follow-up. - Address resident concerns and immediately report any complaints to the Charge Nurse or manager. - Proactively offer assistance and comfort measures to residents and their families. - Present oneself in a positive and professional manner, demonstrating sensitivity to the concerns and needs of others. Resident-Centered Care: Deliver resident care in accordance with the documented Plan of Care. - Attend to basic resident care needs (e.g., hygiene, nutrition, elimination, physical comfort measures) as assigned. - Assist the Charge Nurse/Manager and other healthcare team members with care delivery as needed. - Provide meals and nourishment to residents following dietary standards and the care plan. - Measure and document vital signs, reporting any unusual findings to the Charge Nurse verbally. - Record all patient care activities in a timely manner as required by policy. Ensure a Safe and Organized Environment: Perform basic housekeeping tasks in the immediate vicinity of the patient’s room and bathroom. - Clean and sanitize personal direct care items (e.g., bedpans, urinals) in accordance with policy and standards. - Identify and mitigate safety hazards related to fall risks, such as cords, oxygen tubing, and clutter. - Ensure proper display of oxygen signage and correct storage of oxygen tanks. - Utilize bedrails, bed alarms, and personal alarms appropriately, encouraging family and visitors to do the same. Ensure that residents have all necessary supplies for care: - Stock essential medical supplies and skin care products in the resident care area. - Ensure that linens and incontinence supplies are adequately stocked in residents' rooms. Provide Emotional Support for Residents and Families: Take time to listen and build rapport. - Acknowledge and respect the family's role as decision-makers and caregivers. - Recognize the intrinsic value of each resident's life. - Offer a calming presence. - Observe and respect any religious or cultural practices of the patient or family.

Required Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications
Certified Nurse Assistant is required. Basic Life Support certification is required. BLS Instructor certification is preferred. BLS Provisional certification is required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications

Required Minimum Experience:
Preferred Minimum Skills
Less than 1 year of related experience is preferred.

Must complete orientation and demonstrate proficiency in required functions and tasks related to resident care. Must be able to read, interpret, and understand verbal instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology. Basic math skills are necessary. Must be able to perform under stressful conditions. Must possess patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, along with the willingness to manage challenging residents and family members.
