Position Summary:

The Fresh Market department at Eataly, which includes the Salumi and Formaggi (SAFO) Department, is home to an extensive range of over 500 premium cheeses and cured meats sourced from Italy and beyond. The Lead Artisan plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations within this department, ensuring both quality standards and team performance are met. This position reports directly to the Retail Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide, train, and inspire the team to enhance sales and operational efficiency
  • Oversee inventory levels and make informed decisions regarding stock management, including placing orders as necessary
  • Coordinate with the main production kitchen and dining establishments to ensure timely order fulfillment
  • Manage production schedules to optimize efficiency
  • Ensure the department consistently adheres to quality, health, and safety regulations
  • Report any technical or mechanical issues to the relevant department
  • Analyze financial metrics and implement strategies to boost department efficiency and profitability
  • Assist customers with cheese selections, sharing in-depth product knowledge
  • Weigh, label, and package products while completing food preparation tasks promptly
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a retail environment
  • Strong knowledge of Italian cheeses and cured meats
  • Exceptional communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • At least 1 year of experience in food production is highly desirable
Job Requirements:
  • Willingness to work on-site with a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain a well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting
Compensation:

This role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22 to $27.
