Job Title: Co-Director, Muscular Dystrophy Translation Research

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a highly qualified Co-Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Translational Research Program. The successful candidate will be a senior-level researcher with a strong track record in muscular dystrophy research and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead research projects focused on translational development of therapies for muscular dystrophies
  • Participate in the Muscular Dystrophy Association multidisciplinary clinic
  • Train and mentor clinical preclinical students, residents, and fellows
  • Serve as a member of departmental and university-wide service committees
Requirements:
  • MD or equivalent and minimum of 4 years extensive experience in muscular dystrophy research
  • BC/BE in Neurology
  • A deep understanding of outcome measure development in the muscular dystrophies
  • Experience conducting a multicenter clinical trial
  • Extensive publication record
  • Proven trainee and faculty mentorship skills
  • Track record working in multi-disciplinary fields
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a matric environment within academic medicine
  • Proven success in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
