About the Position

We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join our team at the School of Medicine, Commonwealth of Virginia. As a postdoctoral research associate, you will play a key role in our laboratory's research efforts to understand the role of glial cells on neuronal development and the effect of the environment on neuronal development and vice versa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct experiments to investigate the role of glial cells on neuronal development and function
  • Develop and maintain advanced cell culture systems, including primary neuronal and glial cell cultures
  • Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques, including immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, microscopy, and western blot
  • Collaborate with the research team to design and implement studies using animal models
  • Contribute to the preparation of research papers and presentations for national and international conferences
Requirements
  • PhD in Neurobiology, Biology, or Biochemistry
  • Strong expertise in primary neuronal and glial cell cultures, immune-histochemistry, protein quantification, and in-vivo assays
  • Scientifically skilled, with a strong publication record and presentation experience at national and international conferences
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, microscopy techniques, western blot, and animal handling
