Join a dynamic research team focused on advancing the understanding of genetic nerve and muscle disorders. The role emphasizes laboratory activities that support these objectives through cellular models, patient sample sequencing, and therapeutic compound analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
o (35%): Laboratory Management
o :
Ensure smooth lab operations while adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
o :
Plan and monitor projects to meet established deliverables and timelines, including delegating tasks to lab personnel.
o :
Engage in staff management through regular meetings and annual performance evaluations.
o :
Act as the primary liaison for faculty regarding all laboratory functions.
o (35%): Project Execution
o :
Define project scope and objectives.
o :
Execute and manage laboratory projects.
o :
Assist with data interpretation and analysis.
o :
Contribute to the design of future experimental methodologies.
o (20%): Laboratory Techniques
o :
Conduct bench work with cellular models related to muscular dystrophies, including developing myoblast lines, culturing and differentiating iPSCs, and maintaining neuronal cultures.
o :
Perform PCR analyses for RNA splicing events.
o :
Prepare DNA and RNA samples for sequencing.
o :
Prepare cell cultures and tissue samples for immunohistochemistry.
o :
Isolate RNA and DNA for various projects.
o :
Prepare culture media and standard laboratory reagents.
o (10%): Training and Development
o :
Provide training for lab technicians, graduate, and undergraduate students in essential laboratory practices and techniques.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience.
- Proficiency with cellular models, sample processing, and sequencing techniques.
- Ability to work independently in a laboratory environment.
- Proven experience in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with cell culture, PCR, and protein analysis.
- Background in laboratory training or education.
- Familiarity with collaborative scientific approaches.
- Experience with mouse models and pre-clinical workflows.
This is a restricted position with no predetermined end date; continued employment is contingent upon project requirements, funding availability, and performance evaluations.
