Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Pediatric Oncology Specialist, you will play a critical role in advancing our mission to transform the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division into a model academic unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in pediatric oncology, focusing on leukemia, lymphoma, sarcomas, brain tumors, and developmental therapeutics.
  • Develop and implement innovative research strategies to improve patient outcomes and advance our understanding of pediatric cancer.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute research studies, and analyze data to inform clinical practice and policy.
  • Mentor and train pre- and post-doctoral students, and contribute to the department's educational mission.
  • Develop and submit grant applications for extramural funding to support research initiatives.
Requirements
  • PhD or MD/PhD in pediatrics or a related field.
  • Assistant or Associate Professor level, with a strong publication record and experience in securing funding.
  • Extensive experience in cancer relevant research, with a proven track record of scientific achievement and extramural funding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience in fostering a diverse and inclusive research environment.
