Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Faculty member to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting impactful research studies in the field of cancer, with a focus on translational oncology, immuno-oncology, and drug discovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research studies in translational oncology, immuno-oncology, and drug discovery, including medicinal chemistry and structural biology.
  • Develop and implement innovative research projects, including grant writing and submission.
  • Teach and mentor students and trainees in research, outreach, and professional development.
  • Contribute to the development of new cancer treatments and therapies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance cancer research and treatment.
Requirements
  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree in basic, translational, or clinical sciences.
  • Extensive cancer relevant research experience.
  • Proven extramural funding track record.
  • Extensive publication experience.
  • Proven trainee and faculty mentorship skills.
  • Track record working in multi-disciplinary fields.
  • Experience in, and coordination of, collaborative grants and managing trans-disciplinary research.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a matrix environment within academic medicine.
  • Proven success in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
