Job Overview

Reporting To: Director of Programs and Educational Services

Classification: Salaried, Non-exempt; Regular full-time

Objective: The specialist will design and manage program experiences for Girl Scouts across various age groups, fostering both internal and external engagement.

Location: Girl Scout and Volunteer Resource Center

Direct Reports: Seasonal program support staff

Compensation: $38,500 annually

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize programs to engage and retain members effectively.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver high-quality program activities, events, and curricula based on market demands.
  • Oversee and enhance girl leadership programming, including higher awards and national leadership initiatives.
  • Manage citizenship and leadership development activities, such as community service and Volunteen programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with volunteers, community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support program strategies.
  • Develop and oversee the council's volunteer education supplemental learning track, covering areas such as higher awards and safe activities.
  • Apply knowledge of the National Program Portfolio, Safety Activity Checkpoints, and council policies in decision-making.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of council plans to evaluate girl outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate on grants and grant-funded programs as opportunities arise.
  • Ensure program activities align with the Girl Scout mission, promoting a welcoming environment for all.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the council's mission and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associate's Degree accepted with a minimum of two years' experience in education, event planning, youth programming, community development, or non-profit youth services.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery is preferred.
  • Grant management experience is preferred.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to travel within the council's jurisdiction.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional movement throughout the facility to access files, office equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Capability to sit for extended periods during meetings or while working at a computer.
