Job Title: Marketing and Communications Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team at The Pennsylvania State University. This is a unique opportunity to advance the brand of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern PA (BFTP/CNP) and contribute to the organization's mission to support tech-based companies across the 32-county footprint.

Job Summary:

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will provide marketing and communication support for the traditional Ben Franklin investment program and other training/promotional initiatives related to the Center. The successful candidate will enhance support networks through ongoing communication of the organization's accomplishments, market existing clients, and build awareness among prospective new clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop marketing/branding/messaging strategies to promote BFTP/CNP's brand and services
  • Produce the Ben Franklin annual program overview and other marketing materials
  • Manage media relations and maintain a strong presence in local press, TV, radio, bloggers, and newspapers
  • Manage the website and social media platforms to ensure consistent branding and messaging
  • Participate in statewide marketing efforts and support statewide legislative advocacy
  • Manage PR and check presentation events, and create video, audio, and written content
  • Assist clients with marketing needs and administer the email marketing system
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Self-starter with hands-on experience with making media buys and identifying local press
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills, with experience in Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience with an email marketing system, Salesforce, and WordPress websites
  • Ability to organize multiple projects and processes simultaneously, with strong project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, with basic knowledge of economic development and tech startups
What We Offer:

The Pennsylvania State University offers a competitive salary range of $46,000 to $74,000, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as tuition discounts for employees and their families.
