Job Overview

OBJECTIVE:

  • Conduct general upkeep and preventive maintenance of manufacturing machinery.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues as they arise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute routine and preventative maintenance, adjustments, setups, and repairs on all production and facility machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal operational efficiency.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours, including weekends, based on production and maintenance requirements.
  • Engage in further training and educational opportunities for career advancement.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Manage plant shutdowns and startups effectively.
  • Oversee parts and material requisition processes.
  • Implement specialized maintenance procedures as necessary.
  • Assess and prioritize the maintenance schedule efficiently.
  • Possess a general understanding of robotics operation and functionality.
  • Work independently when required.
  • Guide and mentor junior maintenance staff during machinery repairs or installations.
  • Assume Maintenance Supervisor duties when necessary.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in planning and decision-making activities.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Identify and report any product, process, or quality system discrepancies to supervisory personnel.
  • Manage nonconforming products appropriately.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions for continuous improvement.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the Crown Quality System and its relevance to this role.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Mechanical aptitude, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, proficient math skills, and the ability to read blueprints.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates within an industrial plant environment, utilizing various industrial tools and equipment while working in proximity to moving mechanical parts. Conditions may include high temperatures, exposure to fumes, dust, noise, and dirt.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this role.

While fulfilling job duties, the employee is expected to stand or walk for extended periods, bend, twist, and turn as necessary.

Use both hands for handling tools and equipment, reach with arms, climb stairs, maintain balance, and perform actions such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee should be capable of lifting or moving items weighing up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time role, with workdays typically scheduled from Monday to Friday, comprising at least 8-hour shifts. Flexibility for mandatory overtime, including weekends, is essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma plus seven years of maintenance experience, or a technical degree with at least five years of maintenance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance practices is required.
  • Familiarity with 480-volt three-phase electricity.
  • HVAC knowledge is beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of PLC controls, logic, and programming is preferred.
  • Knowledge of company procedures, equipment, and departmental operations is advantageous.
