Job Title: Patient Access Representative II

HealthCare Support is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative II to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama.

Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative II will be responsible for performing scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions in support of departmental efficiencies. This role will also involve resolving physician's office and patient issues, greeting customers, and providing world-class customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions
  • Resolve physician's office and patient issues
  • Greet customers and provide world-class customer service
  • Obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information
  • Scan protected health information and create patient information packets/folders
  • Assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures and educate patients about patient financial liabilities
  • Perform hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry
  • Verify insurance, benefits, coverage, and eligibility, and obtain insurance authorizations for scheduled and unscheduled hospital services
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating post-discharge care for patients
Requirements:
  • 1+ year in a customer service role
  • 1+ year administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related area
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 35 WPM typing speed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to perform essential job duties in at least two patient access service areas, including the ED
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some college coursework
  • Understanding of third-party payor requirements
