Assistant Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in the Finance industry. This individual will play a pivotal role in the financial management of our company, contributing to our strategic financial plans and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our financial data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to provide insight into company performance and inform decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Finance industry.
  • Deep knowledge of financial analysis, financial accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Proven experience with financial statement preparation and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and attention to detail.
  • The ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
