Job Overview

OBJECTIVE:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing intricate and technical financial analysis and accounting tasks to deliver precise and timely financial and statistical data, aiding agricultural stakeholders in making informed decisions that align with the operational goals of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate comprehensive financial and statistical reports as requested by department heads or executives, facilitating operational assessments across the organization.
  • Support the establishment and evaluation of accounting protocols and systems, while also managing current systems. Provide insights to the Director of FarmBooks for enhancements in procedures and systems.
  • Maintain proficiency in the financial accounting software utilized by the organization, assisting colleagues in software navigation and troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Conduct account reconciliations linked to the general ledger and sub-modules, addressing any discrepancies and recommending procedural changes to the Director of FarmBooks to prevent future issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of financial statements, cash flow assessments, and other monthly reports included in the Financial Reports Package distributed to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the timely compilation of information for annual attest engagements and regulatory tax obligations, including account analysis and preparation of necessary disclosures.
  • Prepare database query reports for financial research and analysis as requested by department leads for operational insights.
  • Evaluate overhead, payroll, and cost accounting allocations among department leads, providing recommendations for adjustments.
  • Assist in monitoring all transactions related to debt.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required. Significant experience complemented by specialized training may substitute for a completed degree.
Experience:
A minimum of two years in the finance and accounting sector, encompassing account analysis, financial statement preparation, and familiarity with complex accounting transactions. Knowledge of agriculture is advantageous but not mandatory.
