Job Description

**Job Title:** Fire Protection Engineer

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at V2X. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise in fire protection engineering, project management, and operations management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage project design and/or construction efforts, including schedule, funding, and day-to-day project oversight.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and assistance on contracting and construction-related issues, direct design efforts, and recommend construction documents for approval.
  • Operations Management: Oversee and coordinate activities with trade shops, including prioritization of work, review of ongoing projects, and inspection of installed equipment.
  • Engineering Support: Provide engineering support for senior engineering staff, including design work in AutoCAD and site evaluations.
  • Communication: Prepare and distribute project communication with customers, management, integrated project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Provide official weekly project status reports and prepare Contractor Performance Report (CPR) upon contract closeout.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or BS in related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Five (5) years fire protection engineering experience in a similar field may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Clearance: Must have a current, adjudicated, and active TS-SCI w/Poly clearance.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Project Management: Ability to optimize performance, cost, and schedule by ensuring project objectives are achieved on schedule and at the lowest cost compatible with user requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with fire protection and life safety aspects applicable to chemical processes, wet chemistry and laser laboratories, radiological laboratories, high-hazard and nuclear facilities.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing at all organizational levels, especially ability to brief senior officials.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with ability to analyze, prioritize, and problem solve effectively.

  • U.S. Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Work Environment: Work in an operationally-sensitive environment, with potential for work outdoors, in confined space, irregular schedule, working off-shift/rotating schedule, operation of motor vehicles, work in a noisy environment, work under unusual lighting conditions, work near sources of ionizing radiation, work near sources of non-ionizing radiation, headgear or head protection, safety glasses or eye protection, hearing protection, gloves or hand protection, safety shoes or protective foot gear.
