Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at Vectrus. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for performing risk analysis and checking for fire hazards, developing fire protection strategies, and consulting on technical requirements for code adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Fire Protection and Life Safety
    • Develop and implement fire protection and life safety strategies for various facilities
    • Conduct risk analysis and identify potential fire hazards
    • Consult on technical requirements for code adherence
  • Project Management
    • Manage project design and/or construction efforts, including schedule, funding, and day-to-day project oversight
    • Coordinate activities with trade shops, including prioritization of work, review of ongoing projects, and inspection of installed equipment
    • Oversee and coordinate work orders, service orders, and projects
  • Engineering Support
    • Provide engineering support for senior engineering staff
    • Develop cost estimates, documents, and reports
    • Coordinate energy program and analyzing utility costs
  • Communication
    • Prepare and distribute project communication with customers, management, integrated project teams, and stakeholders
    • Provide official weekly project status reports

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering
  • Clearance
    • Active TS-SCI w/Poly clearance
  • Skills
    • Experience with fire protection and life safety aspects applicable to chemical processes, wet chemistry and laser laboratories, radiological laboratories, high-hazard and nuclear facilities
    • Development and maintenance of equivalencies and exemptions to Client USG Directives, NFPA and building codes and standards, and technical standards

  • Work outdoors, in confined space, irregular schedule, working off-shift/rotating schedule, operation of motor vehicles, work in a noisy environment, work under unusual lighting conditions, work near sources of ionizing radiation, work near sources of non-ionizing radiation, headgear or head protection, safety glasses or eye protection, hearing protection, gloves or hand protection, safety shoes or protective foot gear
