Early Intervention Paraprofessional

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children with special needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist children with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding.
- Provide one-on-one support to students in the classroom and during activities.
- Assist teachers and therapists with instructional tasks, such as preparing materials and operating equipment.
- Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy environment for students.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a smooth and successful learning experience.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the educational team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher and/or administration.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An associate degree or equivalent number of college credits.
- 1-2 years of experience working with children with special needs.
- Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and prioritize tasks.
- Reliable transportation.
This position requires:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds.
- Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and reach to retrieve and handle teaching materials and supplies.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating.
- Ability to hear clearly.
- Adequate vision to perform duties.
The Allegheny Intermediate Unit offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- Salary: $21,177.00-$21,592.00 per AIUFT Bargaining Unit Agreement Step 1 (2024-2025)
- Benefits: Per the AIUFT Bargaining Unit Agreement
