Job Title: Early Intervention Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Intervention Special Education Teacher to join our team at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. As a member of our Preschool Early Intervention team, you will play a critical role in evaluating and delivering special education services to young children in our early intervention classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Select, administer, and interpret standardized assessment tools to accurately identify the needs of preschool-age children.
  2. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on evaluation results and the needs of the child.
  3. Provide instruction to individuals, small groups, and large groups, including typically developing peers.
  4. Evaluate and monitor student progress based on assessments, data collection, and observation.
  5. Collaborate with parents, guardians, and outside professionals to support the implementation of specially designed instruction.
  6. Accommodate families who are observing and/or calling about possible placement.
  7. Prepare duties and provide guidance for paraprofessionals related to duties within the classroom and with working with the children.
  8. Coordinate the transition process for children preparing to enter kindergarten programs.
Requirements:
  • Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-8/PK-12 required.
  • Valid PA certification in Early Childhood PK-4 preferred.
  • Experience working with the preschool population in Early Childhood Environments preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, while remaining logical and interpersonal.
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
  • Ability to travel throughout the County required.
  • Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy.
Additional Requirements:
  1. Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR clearances are required prior to an offer.
  2. School Personnel Health Record (Form H) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
