Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Intervention Special Education Teacher to join our team at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. As a member of our Preschool Early Intervention team, you will play a critical role in evaluating and delivering special education services to young children in our early intervention classrooms.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate and assess the needs of preschool-age children to identify their individual needs and develop effective IEPs.
  2. Develop and implement specially designed instruction to meet the needs of children with diverse abilities and learning styles.
  3. Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure seamless communication and support for children and families.
  4. Monitor and evaluate student progress, making data-driven decisions to inform instruction and make adjustments as needed.
  5. Provide leadership and guidance to paraprofessionals and other team members to ensure high-quality instruction and support.
  6. Stay up-to-date with best practices in early childhood special education and adapt instruction to meet the evolving needs of children and families.
Requirements
  • Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-8/PK-12 required.
  • Valid PA certification in Early Childhood PK-4 preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool populations in early childhood environments preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues while remaining logical and interpersonal.
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
  • Ability to travel throughout the County required.
  • Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy.

  7. Adequate vision to perform duties.
