Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. As a Preschool Early Intervention Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in evaluating and delivering special education services to young children in our early intervention classrooms.

Your primary responsibility will be to assess the needs of preschool-age children and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) to support their growth and development. You will work closely with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure that each child receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate and assess the needs of preschool-age children using standardized assessment tools and develop IEPs to support their growth and development.
  2. Develop and implement specially designed instruction to meet the needs of children with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  3. Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure that each child receives the support they need to succeed.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the progress of children and make data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
  5. Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure that each child receives the support they need to succeed.
Requirements
  • Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-8/PK-12 required.
  • Valid PA certification in Early Childhood PK-4 preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool populations in early childhood environments preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.
