Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Systems Specialist III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to our agency's information technology systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex computer-related problems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade hardware and software components, including network equipment and operating systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to users, addressing their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in maintaining the local area network and wide area network, including cable and switch installations, and inventory management.
  • Perform backup, recovery, and archival procedures for files stored on the network.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, users, management, and network programming staff to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Develop and deliver training courses and provide user support and training in the use of available hardware, software, and utilities.
  • Contribute to performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of network resources and maintain network support software.
  • Participate in product evaluations of upgraded or new hardware and software, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits to the agency.
  • Maintain the operating system and security software utilized on the network, including adding new users and establishing rights and privileges.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of network operating system and security software.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and capacity management tools.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve network and computer systems problems.
  • Ability to use IBM or Dell personal computers or laptops released by manufacturers within the last four years and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Visio (or equivalent).

This position requires a strong understanding of computer systems and network infrastructure, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
