A key client of Optimus (TX) is seeking a skilled Transmission Systems Analyst to provide in-depth analysis on market pricing across all ISO/RTOs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in transmission market simulations, hedging, and trading activities.
Key Responsibilities- Transmission Market Analysis: Perform complex transmission market simulations using power flow programs to identify transmission system capabilities and limitations.
- Hedging and Trading Support: Assist in hedging and trading activities through CRRs/FTRs/TCCs to optimize the portfolio.
- Commercial Development Support: Provide transmission expertise and analytical support for commercial development and strategic origination activities.
- Market Reporting and Forecasting: Produce short-term to mid-term market reports and forecasts.
- Additional Support: Assist other analytical and managerial efforts as needed within and beyond Commercial Analytics.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems, mathematics, applied statistics, computer science, or data science. An advanced degree in a technical field is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electricity market structures, dynamics, and rules; FTR, CRR, and TCC structures; power plant operations; load flow and nodal price modeling software platforms (such as PSLF, PSSE, PROMOD, UPLAN, Dayzer, etc.); and associated data structures.
- Programming Skills: Experience with transmission modeling; analytical applications such as Excel, SQL, Visual Basic, Python, R, SAS, C++, Java/.NET, and other programming languages.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of ISO market structure and energy commodities.
