About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Family Services Specialist to join our team in Henrico County. As a key member of our Child Protective Services team, you will play a critical role in providing professional, intensive, specialized continuing case management services to families in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Child Protective Services (CPS) family assessments & investigations and associated duties, including case documentation in the child welfare database OASIS using COMPASS & eScribers.
  • Coordinate & participate in Family Partnership Meetings, and participate in court proceedings through filing affidavits, petitions, court reports and providing testimony in civil and criminal proceedings.
  • Transfer cases for ongoing services, conduct trauma screenings & CANS assessments, and participate in unit, division, agency & community meetings related to the work of the Department.
  • Provide coverage for child welfare on-call (CPS, preservation, prevention & foster care) approximately 14 nights per 12-month calendar year, and participate in shelter team operations as designated by the Emergency Operations Center.

Requirements

  • Four (4) year baccalaureate degree in a relevant social science field and three (3) years of relevant social work experience; OR: Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Valid driver's license to perform assigned duties at various locations.
  • Successful completion of all training requirements established pursuant to the VA Standards for personnel.
