Position Overview

The Plant Engineer at Viskase Companies, Inc. is a hands-on managerial position responsible for overseeing the engineering functions, utilities management, and both water and wastewater operations at our facility in Osceola, AR. This role entails ensuring the safe and effective planning and execution of facility projects while maintaining the efficiency of the maintenance department and managing the capital budget for the facility. The individual will also play a crucial role in shaping the future maintenance programs of the plant. Additionally, this position may involve overseeing various safety initiatives, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, Electrical Safety, Contractor Safety, and Fall Protection, among others, and will supervise a team of up to 25 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of capital project designs.
  • Oversee the management of plant capital projects and expense budgets.
  • Strategically plan, forecast, and manage the capital budget for the plant.
  • Monitor and enhance departmental spending, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints, including parts, MRO/stores inventory, and labor costs.
  • Lead initiatives to manage energy consumption and drive energy efficiency improvements.
  • Supervise the operation of environmental control systems, including Sulfur MACT units and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Manage support operations for the facility, including powerhouse and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the building and surrounding grounds.
  • Provide continuous engineering support to production departments, available 24/7/365.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a skilled engineering and utilities team with diverse competencies.
  • Ensure timely and effective responses to the needs of customer departments.
  • Utilize metrics to enhance maintenance processes and drive improvements.
  • Promote a culture of safety with a focus on zero injuries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, with relevant practical experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing a team of at least 10 individuals.
  • Experience in large, complex manufacturing facilities operating continuously.
  • Preferred experience in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of energy conservation and efficiency strategies.
  • In-depth understanding of maintenance systems and processes.
  • Proficient in managing substantial budgets and driving productivity enhancements.
