Position Overview
The Plant Engineer at Viskase Companies, Inc. is a pivotal managerial role that oversees the engineering functions, utilities, and both water and wastewater operations at our facility in Osceola, AR. This individual is tasked with ensuring the safe and efficient design and implementation of facility projects, as well as the optimal performance of the maintenance department while managing the capital budget for the facility. This role will also involve the future design and execution of the plant's maintenance programs. Additionally, the position may encompass responsibilities for various safety initiatives, including Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Contractor Safety, and Fall Protection, among others, and will supervise a team of up to 25 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead capital project design evaluations.
- Administer plant capital projects and manage expense budgets.
- Plan, forecast, and oversee the capital budget for the plant.
- Monitor, manage, and enhance departmental expenditures, ensuring budget compliance across parts, MRO/stores inventory, and labor.
- Direct the plant's energy consumption and spearhead energy improvement initiatives.
- Supervise the operation of environmental control systems, including Sulfur MACT units and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Manage facility support operations, encompassing the powerhouse and electrical distribution systems.
- Ensure the maintenance of the building and surrounding grounds.
- Provide continuous engineering support to production departments, available 24/7/365.
- Recruit, train, and cultivate a proficient engineering and utilities team with diverse skill sets.
- Ensure the timely and effective fulfillment of customer department needs.
- Utilize metrics to drive enhancements in maintenance processes.
- Promote a culture focused on zero injuries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, with relevant practical experience.
- 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role within a plant environment.
- Proven experience managing a team of at least 10 individuals.
- Experience in large, complex manufacturing facilities operating continuously.
- Preferred experience in a chemical manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of energy conservation and efficiency strategies.
- In-depth understanding of maintenance systems and processes.
- Extensive experience in managing substantial budgets and driving productivity improvements.
