Position Summary

The Facilities Engineer oversees and supervises the activities within the powerhouse area, total plant responsibility for HVAC, steam, buildings, and to manage and assist on projects in the Engineering Department. Direct the activities of personnel supporting varied plant areas for maximum efficiency at minimum cost in accordance with corporate and division policies and health and safety regulations. More specifically this role is for the powerhouse, water, wastewater, HVAC, and buildings operations.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure plant utilities (steam, water electric, glycol, air) is reliable, properly functioning and maintained. Maintain plant equipment to minimize loss of production and provide a safe work environment for all employees
  • Lead the powerhouse team to maximize energy efficiency and reduce costs in a safe and effective manner
  • Effective management of raw water and wastewater treatment that as a minimum meets local, state and federal regulations
  • Leads the plants Capital Expenditure projects associated with scope of responsibility
  • Serves as a backup supervisor within the maintenance department
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal and corporate policies in the areas of safety, human resource management etc.
  • Direct supervision of hourly employees as well as contractors when necessary
  • Ultimately accountable for performance in the assigned department in the areas of safety, environmental, quality, production and employee actions
  • Judgment – makes sound decisions, bases decisions on facts, analyzes the problem
  • Job knowledge and technical knowledge – applies knowledge to identify issues and problems
  • Quality of work – Maintains high standards expects same of others, produces accurate thorough professional work

  • Education and Requirements
  • BS in Engineering Preferred – Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Civil, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance management in a manufacturing environment with a 24/7/365 day operation – preferably in chemical processing or heavy manufacturing
  • Leadership experience of a team of 6 or above, our team consists of 10-12 skilled employees
  • Able to manage multiple projects, determine priorities, organizes and schedules people and tasks
  • Specific experience with boilers, chillers, HVAC, water treatment, electrical system maintenance and compressed air systems is preferred
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to groups.
  • Demonstrates positive leadership, organization and interpersonal skills, as well as coaching skills and techniques.
  • Demonstrates problem identification and resolution skills, and the ability to drive change
  • Initiative and Creativity
  • Excellent PC skills, knowledge and experience especially MS Office.
